Werewolves vs. Vampires | POP CULTURE

I finally saw New Moon this weekend. As it's known around the Zandland office, I've been Team Jacob since I saw the first preview. Taylor's assets to the werewolf-over-sparkly-vampire cause are obvious.

Trust me, the mother of two girls sitting in front of me agreed - she kept gasping every time he took off his shirt!

I relayed this to Deborah over brunch and she pointed out that there is a serious vampire vs. werewolf showdown in entertainment at the moment. Benicio Del Toro is remaking the 1941 movie The Wolf Man, due out in 2010.

Benicio does not seem to be bringing the HAWT like Taylor. Ahh well...

Meanwhile as we've previously covered, Johnny Depp is slated to remake 60's gothic soap opera Dark Shadows, starring as the vampire Barnabas Collins (IMDB lists this as "in development" and due to release in 2011).

With two established heavy-hitters taking on werewolf and vampire roles, this rivalry promises to continue for the next few years. Which will prevail? While vampires are currently have the upper hand (from blockbuster series Twilight to HBO's True Blood to indie hit Let The Right One In) (disclaimer, I could not watch this, too scary), I personally see werewolves stepping in as vampire-fatigue sets in (see: culprits such as The Vampire Diaries)

The quicker somebody carries out this program, the larger the outcomes are. Going the way of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle could be suggested as the greatest option for all.
