STOCK MARKET - Zandl picks

I have been bullish on the economy since mid-February 09 when I first detected a turn-around in our recession-mired economy. Small businesses like mine are akin to canaries in the mines - we're the first to feel the downturn and also the first to detect the slightest uptick in financial fortunes.

I have always been risk averse in financial matters, getting out of the market years ago. I have also never lost a penny of my savings. Today's battered stock market has piqued my interest as never before and I am gearing up cautiously to get back in.

Starting on March 6, 2009, I began tracking 12 stocks that I determined to be strong trend-forward yet under-valued companies. I wanted to see how they did over the course of two months to make sure that I was not risking my money on a blip.

All of the 12 companies I have been tracking weekly since 3/6/09 have gone up since then.
9 of the 12 have shown steady weekly growth through 4/09.

Citibank 3.04 as of 4/9 (1.00 on 3/6)
GE 11.33 a/o 4/9 (6.91 on 3/6)
Ford 4.24 a/o 4/9 (1.66 on 3/6)
JP Morgan 32.75 a/o 4/9 (15.25 on 3/6)
Wells Fargo 19.61 a/o 4/9 (8.35 on 3/6)
Whole Foods 18.36 a/o 4/9 (12.08 on 3/6)
Target 39.89 a/o 4/9 (25.65 on 3/6)
American Apparel 3.98 a/o 4/9 (1.44 on 3/6)
J Crew 16.25 a/o 4/9 (9.28 on 3/6)

Three have gone up since 3/6, but not as consistently as the above 9.
Urban Outfitters 17.34 a/o 4/9 (14.13 on 3/6)
Limited 10.67 a/o 4/9 (6.26 on 3/6)
Big Lots 24.20 a/o 4/9 (18.56 on 3/6)

I will continue to track these stocks through the end of April before I dive back in.
