Austin Thomas of Pocket Utopia discussing Adam Simon's solo exhibit during SITE Fest.
Our beloved new neighborhood has made the presses yet again. WNYC (a personal fave) came out to Bushwick over the weekend and covered some of SITE Fest on their Culture Blog. The story is great (although I do have to point out that Romeo & Juliet is playing this weekend at the "Bushwick Starr" -- not the "Brooklyn Starr" as the story reported. I'm picky.) I love the little interview they did with Jill McKeena of Grace Space:
When we first opened we would have an attendance of zero and we would still hold the event anyway — like a film screening or something, and no one would be here. And people say, “How did it go?” And I would say, “Yeah, it went great!” Then it increased to like 5 people, and then it was like 15 or 20. Now last night there were probably 150 or 200 people coming here. I don’t know if that’s just changes in the neighborhood or if it’s just cause people are finally learning about us.Listen or read a clip
here (if you choose to listen and don't want to hear about any of the other culture they covered, the Bushwick part starts at 5:36).
