DRINK - Williamsburg Mixology

After an amazing and inspiring M.I.A. concert at McCarren Park Pool (Williamsburg/Greenpoint), we made our way on over to Huckleberry on Grand St. (at Lorimer) for some late Friday night cocktails. Had heard wonderful things about the Brooklyn mixology and classic cocktail venue. And seeing as how I go goo-goo over beautifully crafted cocktails, it was about time we checked it out for size.
The atmosphere was delicate and comfortable, with plenty of plush seating and a simple backyard deck. The spot has simple decor, neutrals, comfortably and dimly lit, refreshingly unpretentious. There was DJ in the corner playing a fun array of early 90s dance gems.
While we didn't indulge in any food, our cocktails were a pure treat, simple and delicious. We tried out the "Francois Hannibal d'Estrees", with gin and Chartreuse, and the "Maria Canevari", a shots worth of Spiced Rum, Maraschino Liqueur, Cherry Brandy and Vanilla Cherry Bitters....mmmmm. Also of note were the "To Smell of Thyme", with Thyme infused vodka and Absinthe, and "Article 57", a mellow and basic ginger infused vodka and tonic.
We finished off the night with a round of very delicious and refreshing Bombay Sapphire gimlets, made strong and to perfection. Twas a brilliant end to a very hot 100 degree day out in the sun. Looking forward to our next Huckleberry Bar adventure!
